Cedarburg, which won the WIAA Division 1 state soccer title last season, earned its second straight trip to state Saturday, only this year the Bulldogs will play in Division 2. They beat De Pere, 1-0, in double overtime in a sectional final game at home.
Isabella Gemignani scored the winner at 95 minutes off a pass from Mekenna Race. Beck Onan got the shutout and made three saves for Cedarburg. The Bulldogs move on to play Waukesha West in a semifinal game on Friday, June 20 at noon. This game is a rematch of the 2013 WIAA Division 1 State Championship Game.
On Saturday, June 7, 2014 Cedarburg High School hosted a ceremony naming the varsity baseball facility "Jack Friess Field", in honor of longtime CHS baseball coach Jack Friess. The 2014 season marks his 36th season leading the Bulldog varsity team.
A 1967 graduate of Cedarburg High School, Friess also taught at Webster Transitional School for 34 years. His teams have won 3 conference titles, appeared in 6 WIAA summer state tournaments and were state runners-up in 1997 and 1998. His 514 wins heading into the 2014 season place him fifth all-time among WIAA summer baseball coaches.
Coach Friess’s name is displayed on the press box and a new scoreboard has been installed displaying “Jack Friess Field." The field is located on the Cedarburg High School campus (W68N611 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg, WI).

CHS Senior Taylor Grimm will be attending Lewis University, located in Romeoville, IL and will be majoring in business. Taylor will play baseball for the Flyers, a NCAA DII program that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. CHS Senior Josh Short has accepted an athletic scholarship to run cross country and track at the University of Alabama. He is pictured here signing his National Letter of Intent on February 5th, 2014. 6:30 to 6:45 PM - General Athletic Director Meeting (Items covered will be the sign-up, clearance process and a variety of important policies related to athletic participation at Cedarburg High School (held in field house)
6:45 to 7:15 PM - Individual Fall Sports Meetings as indicated below (students not playing a fall sport may leave at this time):

*Boys Volleyball has been added as a sport at CHS for the Fall of 2014. Students will be able to sign-up but an individual meeting WILL NOT be hold for this sport on Wednesday, May 28 since a head coach has not been hired. When a coach is hired you will be contacted based on the information that provide when filling the sign-up sheet on May 28.
In lieu of a general Fall Sports Meeting for current students, the high school coaches will hold individual sign-up meetings prior to the end of the school year.
