The Cedarburg Bulldogs overcame the Nicolet Knights to claim their first outright conference title since the 1966-67 season. After a close game to start, Cedarburg closed out a 54-32 game in traditional high-flying style. On a night meant to honor the five senior players, it was the conference title everyone was talking about when the final buzzer sounded.
A night that was capped off by junior John Diener scoring 25 points and senior Jake Levy scoring his first points of the season to ice the game. Offensively, the Bulldogs looked strong all night long, thanks to clutch free throw shooting from senior Jordan Johnson.
Cedarburg advances to 17-2 overall and 11-0 in North Shore play. With just three games remaining, there is no mathematical way another team can steal the title away from the hard fighting Bulldogs.
The pieces have always never fully lined up for coach Tom Diener and company over the years. Tuesday night, everything and more was lined up perfectly for them.
This Bulldogs team boasts the tools to make a deep run into the state tournament and it all stems from great teamwork and consistent shooting.
Congratulations to our Boys basketball team on this historic accomplishment!
