Donald J. Huber - Athlete (Class of 1952)

Don was a four-year varsity starting guard for the Cedarburg High School basketball team and was an exception in an era when backcourt performers were not supposed to be high scorers.  At 5’9”, he introduced the “jump shot” to Cedarburg basketball and graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 641 career points, a record that stood for 15 seasons.  He also achieved a single-season record of 269 points as a senior.  Don was a member of the 1949-50 and the 1951-52 4-C Conference championship teams and was named to the First Team All-Ozaukee County for the 1950’s All-Decade Team.

Huber was also an outstanding football player, lettering three times, and a member of the 1949 and 1951 4-C Conference championship teams. In 1950 he was named most valuable player by his teammates.  In 1951, he was named most valuable player, captain, outstanding 4-C Conference player and Honorable Mention All-State.
