Vincent B. Cibik - Coach (1942-1954) Inducted 2011

Vincent B. Cibik was a coach for 11 seasons at Cedarburg High School between 1942 and 1954, interrupted between 1944 and 1946 when he served as the recreation director for the U.S. Marines at Pearl Harbor during World War II.

The Bulldogs captured seven football conference championships under Cibik (1942, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, and 1952).  His teams won a then-state-record 30 consecutive games during one stretch and were victorious in 67 of Cibik’s final 75 games.   In basketball, his teams won three 4-C Conference championships (1942-43, 1943-44, 1946-47).

Cibik played one year of football at Milwaukee State Teachers College, where he won All-State honors.  Cibik then attended the University of Wisconsin, where he played halfback for three seasons under the guidance of Harry Stuldreher, one of the legendary “Four Horsemen” of Notre Dame.

In addition to coaching football and basketball, he was a physical education instructor and track coach.  Coach Cibik’s life was cut short in 1954 at the age of 38 due to cancer.  While his life was far too short, his impact and his legacy live on.
