Dean A. Corner - Coach (1967-1979)

Dean Corner was a physical education instructor for 26 years at Cedarburg High School and the head wrestling coach from 1967 to 1979.  His name is synonymous with the sport of wrestling in Cedarburg. 

From 1974 through 1978, Cedarburg won four Braveland Conference championships, including three straight from 1974-76.  Cedarburg won five WIAA regional titles or co-titles (1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979) and a sectional championship in 1976.  Corner also coached the only individual state champion in Cedarburg history.  

As an athlete, he won three Nebraska state high school championships at Omaha Tech High School.  While at Iowa State University, Corner won the Big Eight championship in 1956 and 1957, earning All-American honors in those same years.  He finished third in the NCAA championships in 1956.

Corner was involved in the sport of wrestling as an athlete, coach, official, clinician, and contributor for 38 years.  He is a member of both the Nebraska and the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

As a teacher and coach, Corner touched many lives.  He worked tirelessly at bringing out the best in each student or athlete, with hard work and high expectations the key to his success.
