Art Viesselmann attended Cedarburg High School from 1947-1951.  He earned fourteen varsity letters while competing in four different sports -- baseball, basketball, football, and track.

Art lettered three times in football, and was a member of the 1947, 1948, and 1949 4-C Conference championship teams.  In 1948, he was chosen as the team’s most improved player.  In 1949, he was named most valuable player, team captain, outstanding 4-C Conference player of the year and was an All-State candidate.  That same season he broke Cedarburg’s single-season scoring record by scoring 16 touchdowns and 12 extra points, despite only playing in seven of nine games.

Art earned four letters in baseball and track, as well as three letters in basketball, where he was the most improved player on the 1948-49 squad.  He was also a member of the 1949-50 4-C Conference championship team.

Following his graduation, Art went on to Wartburg College in Iowa, where he obtained a scholarship and played football for one season.   In 1952, he was drafted into the Marines, where he served for three years on the Marine Honor Platoon.
